We were saddened to see a peaceful protest turn into rioting and looting on the streets of Boston. The actions of a few should not overshadow the citizens who wanted to voice their concerns and Boston Police Department who were there to support the peaceful protesters and who then had to transition into riot control.

We also wanted to pass along a message from Waltham Chief of Police Keith D. MacPherson writing on behalf of our local communities:

“The Police Department denounces the egregious actions taken by four members of the Minneapolis Police Department, whether by action or inaction, that resulted in the death of George Floyd on May 25, 2020.

We currently enjoy a great rapport with our community at large. The Police Department is dedicated to community policing and community collaboration. We remain committed to professionalism, democratic policing and procedural justice for all people.”

This is a difficult time and we wish everyone health and safety.
